Visuals[edit | edit source]

  • Some animation towards the start was touched up starting with ep 4, including the Chronos Clock being replaced with a clearly CGI version. Ironically, this is the very episode that got the show mildly famous for off-model animation... I expect they were worked on seperately. The DVD version uses the new verion from the start.

  • Episode 26 replaces the damaged photos at the end with non-damaged ones. Not that it was much of a reveal at that point.

Song[edit | edit source]

For some reason, the OST and credits-free-DVD-bonus version of the opening use a different cut of the song... though if my download of the DVD version episodes are correct, the song used in the actual opening remains the same, barring episode 26. The original version used a chorus from later in the song in place of an earlier equivalent, while this new version just uses the first minute and a half of the full song like most anime themes do.

Lyrics used in this comparison are from AnimeLyrics.

... Doesn't make much sense either way, does it.

Analysis and speculah[edit | edit source]

Visuals[edit | edit source]

  • Ivy and space shots abound. See those pages for details.
  • Obviously, Nyx's identity is hidden by Kirika not being shown transforming into her- not even her hand appears during the shot of the ring before Nyx appears. Though the fact that Kirika is the only one not shown leaving the ivy thing perhaps gives it away.
  • Two shots associate Micchi with the two Himekas, though no specific connection exists between them in any part of canon. This might mean Satelite intended to create such a connection? It may also have something to do with Micchi's mystery ring and its message about and possible connection to the Himekas.
    • He's also paired with Kazusa in ending 2 for whatever reason.

  • The Zeus ring shown over the destroyed weapons locked in the Slab of Stone implies that it's responsible for that, which indeed it is.
  • The photo of Kirio and Kirika shows Kirika with her pre-significant haircut hair style and, you know, not crossdressing, despite being a teen. I understand why they did that but it still looks pretty weird...

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Again, from AnimeLyrics. Mostly.

Making sense out of Ali Project songs it pretty much a fool's errand (I think Eat my Rose might be about losing your virginity or something??), but there are a few lines that seem inspired by elements of the series.

  • The "pale prince" may be a reference to Kazune, but the context doesn't make any particular sense.
  • Watashi wa megami/I am a goddess obviously refers to our heroine, though the god complex implied by the rest of the song would make more sense as a reference to Kirihiko if the gender weren't wrong.
  • Anata ga maou/You are the devil, coupled with a shot of the Zeus ring being all red and glowy, definitely refers to Kirihiko.
  • Your princess is dying in her prison refers to the Himekas, suffering from weak health while "imprisoned" by their condition and the protection of the others (note that "hime" means "princess").
  • Futari wa demigod/We are (a) demigod(s), from the full version of the song, may also refer to the Himekas. The lines before it translate to "My body splits/One half of rendez-vous in heaven"(?).
