Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Micchi failed to seal Zeus' power, it seems.
  • Kirihiko attacks Karin and Kazune again. As they run, the house is engulfed in ivy again. The two reach a point where a hole in the ivy floor gives way to open space and fall through it. They show up in the Escherscape, where they're chased around by Kirihiko's hologram/shadow form.
  • The Clocktower appears, announcing itself with a toll of its bell as usual, and the area Karin and Kazune are running through changes to the City.
  • Kirihiko shows them a scene from the lab, of Kazuto shutting down the god research despite his protests (I can't identify the ring Kirihiko holds up here, but it's silver and looks similar to the Athena and Apollo rings). Once it's over, the sky has changed from washed-out sepia to a dark starry night sky.
  • Karin's tears hit the ground, causing it to ripple like water and opening a dark hole. She falls down into the void and the hole closes behind her, leaving Kazune behind.
  • Kirihiko uses the ring to spy on Himeka as she approaches the Karasuma house.
  • Himeka opens the front door... and walks into a room full of giant oxidized gears, with the Slab of Stone front and center. The door closes behind her and fades away. The other Himeka enters from somewhere (according to Nyake later, at this point they both vanished). The two are now standing in the spotlight in the empty space from their shared dream before. Lines of equations appear of both of them; a slab of stone/Luna Dimidi cover hybrid thing appears between them and moves towards the screen...
  • The necklaces halves swing like pendulums together; the moon appears between one of their swings. Below this is the Labyrinth- it's the actual version of the flashback from Himeka's second dream. There's a few differences- Himeka's crying in terror, Kirihiko holds the ring between thumb and finger rather than it laying on his palm- but it's mostly the same, up until Kazuto shows up and tackles Kirihiko from behund. The ring flies out of Kirihiko's hand; the two girls collapse.
  • Back in the City with Kazune and Kirihiko, the Clocktower appears, and the buildings begin to slowly degrade. An odd-looking staircase appears on one of the buildings while this is going on.
  • Karin wanders through the field of floating doors. One leads to what seems to be the City from outside. Another leads right to where the guys are battling, at the head of the staircase that appeared earlier.
  • Some of Kirihiko's energy balls have a simplified variant of the decoration that appeared on some at the end of ep23/start of 24.
  • And now we find out why Himeka never said exactly what Kazune's tell was- because now Karin figures it out herself. As in, she actually does just notice a habit and figure out what he's thinking.
  • The City transforms into the Escherscape as Kazune commands Karin to leave. The structure Karin's on moves away from the one Kazune's on, and Kazune is soon obscured by two staircases that move between the two of them. The Escherscape turns back into the City on Kazune's side.
  • Karin prays to somehow be taken to where Kazune is as she runs back the way she came, towards a glowing light- she jumps through it, but poor Nyake bounces off it and is left behind. Back with Kazune, a glowing light appears in the sky and Karin falls out of it- an inversion of the black hole in the floor that swallowed her up when she was feeling less charitable towards him.

Analysis and Speculah[edit | edit source]

This episode implies that the Labyrinth responds to emotions, changing its appearance or actions to match...

  • Karin's tears when frustrated with Kazune open up a hole that takes her away from him
  • Karin realising that she loves Kazune no matter what and wants to go back to him causes the Labyrinth to open a way back
  • Kazune wanting Karin to leave so she'll be safe causes the Labyrinth to send Karin to another section entirely
