Episode 21
Hoo boy.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Himeka's better and still wearing her necklace... and writing weird math equations on omelettes, and carving them into the lawn. Kirio's ring reacts to the latter. He calls it "the kamika data that father was researching".
- Her ketchup writing is identical to part of the equations shown projected from Micchi's ring in episode 24, while the lawn writing seems to be unique. I can't read much of the rest. Overall, there seem to be quite a few repeating lines.
- Himeka2 is shown reading one of Kirio's works in Kirio's little flashback. We'll be seeing more of those in a later episode, of course...
- Detective Nyake (who may be a callback to a certain scene in ep 8) arrives! Her suspect list regarding Kazune's kisser is:
- Micchi
- Q('s mentaiko)
- The mentaiko (again)
- A bug
- Karin... no, that delicious-looking bird (who is actually his sister)!
- Kirio's die has a somewhat similar list of suspsects on it:
- Micchi
- Himeka (even though it's obviously not her...)
- Nyake
- Q
- bird!Kazusa
- Karin (shown only very briefly before the die lands Karin-side-up towards the end)
- There's also an unidentifiable blob thing shown in some shots, likely an art error.
- The building being demolished from ep 8 shows up more prominently later on when Kazune and Karin lead Kirio to it, but is seen briefly in the background when we first see the shrine.
... Amd then, perhaps as a result of Kirio's prodding about Kazune, Himeka breaks. In complete silence, her eyes glaze over and she starts glowing and floating. Uh...
- Himeka starts running her finger over the edge of the bubble of light she's in, causing the equations to appear on it. Kirio's ring reacts.
- Back at the Karasuma household, Himeka2's eyes glaze over as well. The Zeus ring glows. The nearby window freaking shatters, and H2 starts glowing-and-floating as well. Writing simply appears on her bubble, and specks of light travel from it to her chest (the necklace?).
- Karin's ring glows (as she's carrying umbrellas of the same color- red for her, yellow for Himeka- as in ep 1), as does Kazune's.
- Himeka continues "writing". Light falls from her equations to Kirio's ring.
- After Kirio discards the cheap die and transforms, Himeka's light falls on his scythe, causing him to attack Karin with a burst powerful enough to leave a crater in the ground. The light gathers on his weapon again; this time it's shown gathering on his ring, causing it to glow more brightly than ever. Kirio moves into Himeka's bubble and takes her hostage.
- ... Kirio's ring cracks, causing him to pause. Both Himekas's writing shatters, and Himeka1 falls to the ground...
- While unconcious briefly, Himeka dreams of a certain two parental figures who I'm sure you're all very familiar with by now. The die has landed Karin-side up. Himeka identifies Karin as the one who kissed Kazune.
- Kazune goes all-out and causes Kirio's ring to shatter. (Dunno if he knew it was already damaged from Himeka's limit break.) Himeka2 snaps out of her trance and collapses, and the last of her writing shatters as well. Ares's scythe appears on the Slab of Stone.
Speculah and Analysis[edit | edit source]
This episode probably took place during a full moon... probably.
The two Himekas have completely different interactions with the equations they produce:
- Kujyou Himeka "draws" hers with a fingertip and casts the "power" from them outwards onto a nearby ring- likely involuntarily, given that she's basically aiding the enemy and almost got Karin hurt.
- Karasuma Himeka's just appear out of thin air, and the "power" from them goes inwards towards herself.
It's unknown whether this represents some fundamental diffrence in how their pseudo god-powers work, or if it's just a result of the circumstances. It's also unknown what happened to the energy Himeka2 took into herself- maybe it was sent to Himeka1?
If there is some difference between the two, I wonder how that would affect Rika's plans and actions...
Maybe it's just me, but Kirio seems just a bit ooc starting about when Himeka starts influencing him- he's rather more vicious than usual. Given that she seems to outright control his actions at sone point (when he attacks Karin and leaves that giant crater), I wonder if there isn't some not-quite-himself going on here, like what happened with Kirika in ep 16.
The limit break Himeka uses on Kirio may work similarly to Kazune's self-destroying powers, though it causes strain on the ring rather than the person using it.
